It just seems to me that capitalism and the world I want to live in are inherently incompatible.
I want a world that treats human beings with
Capital wants a world that enforces scarcity and poverty, that prioritizes consolidating itself and growing itself over everything else. The logic of capital would kill every living thing on the planet to make profits go up.
Right now, the enemies of humanity run the world.
I don’t speak lightly in calling them that. They hate the rest of us. They want us enslaved or dead.
They’re the people who go around starting wars, who use the unaccountable police in the “land of the free” and “greatest country on Earth” to murder people with impunity, who are trying to dismantle the government’s and the people’s ability to restrain their unbridled greed and power over the rest of us.
Here in America, they’re the people who “love America” as some abstract notion, They love wrapping themselves in the flag and proclaiming this a Christian nation and talking about returning to an imaginary past.
But they hate America for what it truly is.
They hate the people. They hate the vast diversity. They hate the myriad cultures. They hate the way they all come together.
They hate the land. They hate natural beauty. They hate that there are parts of the planet they can’t pervert or destroy to make money.
I love the people of the world. And I want
I wish violence didn’t have to be on the table. But “violence is never the answer” ignores the fact that the other side, the side that hates humanity, is already using violence, has been using violence for a long time, and will continue to do so. As Kwame Ture said, “in order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience.”
